Water Hyacinth is one of the softest yet sturdiest natural fiber used for woven products. The properties of Kauna (water hyacinth) are one of a kind ~ it can take any aspired shape and form. It is non- toxic and has great heat insulation properties. It is also frost and water resistant making it one of our most durable fibers. Other surprising properties include it being a water cleaner as well as a thermal and noise insulator.

Kauna weaving predominantly a forte of expert women weavers. It is a major livelihood for this cluster & they have taken it up with heart & soul. Each piece involves a laborious process of carefully designing, feasibility check & then hand weaving.

The master artisans are adept to weaving Kauna fibre in numerous daily use & gift articles ~ sustainable filing baskets, gift boxes, fashion bags, laundry bags, wall clocks and many more.

Avoid moisture exposure – it’s made from a water reed so does not require any more :); To clean simply wipe it down with a soft damp cloth.
